Facing the U14 National runners up last night for Navy was never going to be easy, but this is as hard as it gets in Herts and aren’t Wodson just full of surprises.

With only 6 players at the start and only one shooter the team had to re-jig in attack and U13 player Isabella Osman stepped in to cover in defence, talk about ‘in at the deep end’ Bella, thank you!

We were off, and with no surprise Turnford took an early lead 18-5 in the first, the girls were unfazed.

By the start of the second, the two late arrivals were on court and an improved second quarter saw the team start to settle into the game and claw their way back chipping away calmly and clinically at the deficit.

Half time score 14-32 to Turnford.

With plenty more gas in the tank (which was now simmering away nicely), U14’s racked up 3 gears and decided that they were in fact as good as this team and they were about to prove it!

Winning the 3rd quarter by 8 goals to 6, momentum had suddenly shifted on court in Wodson’s favour, this was getting exciting and coach Sue started her galloping around the base Line!

A closely contested last quarter saw some fabulous netball by both teams but again Wodson out played their opponents and won the last quarter by 11 goals to 9.

Final score 33-47 to Turnford but, despite an overall loss, we get a point and we were the better team over 30 minutes of the match, who could of predicted that, well done girls!

Player of the match went to Rosie Montalbano at GS who dominated the attacking circle and hardly missed a shot, well done Rosie!

A great pre-tournament game, player and coach confidence at an all time high, roll on Sunday!
